I’m in San Francisco now (enjoying the local Mexican taquerias and Salvadorian papuserias) and waiting for the GayVN Award show. It will be held tonight at the historic Castro Theatre. Here’s the list of this year’s nominees, but there’s no confirmed list yet of the porn stars who will actually be attending.

Last night, there were some pretty wild pre-show parties in the Castro. It was a fun change of pace for this die-hard New Yorker.

Before Night Falls? It’s the biography of gay Cuban poet Reinaldo Arenas and stars Javier Bardem. The movie covers his early life in pre-Castro Cuba through the period of “sexual liberation” to the period of Communist repression.

Before Night Falls is an amazing work of cinema … and since I’m blogging about it, you know it’s got some hot men too!

If you’re in New York City and have never seen it in a theatre, you have one last chance to catch Before Night Falls this Sunday (Mar 22, 2009) at IFC Center on 6th Avenue and West 3rd Street. You can still buy it on DVD, but the original print of the film looks amazing. Check it out, if you can!

There are “red carpet” arrivals scheduled at 8pm, and the awards are supposed to run from 9:00 to 10:30pm. It should be fun! UPDATE 11:40PM: Good show! Although, there was waayyy too much clothing. Who knew that Wikipedia had a listing of African American pornographic film actors?

Well, it does. And one of the most prominent stars on this list is Matthew Rush! Every television network should be fighting for the rights to turn this story into a made-for-TV movie.
